What is Raspberry Ketone?

Raspberry ketone is a chemical extracted from red raspberries (Rubus idaeus) such as raspberries, cranberries and blackberries. In 2010, scientists observed that raspberry ketone had a molecular structure similar to capsaicin, which is the chemical responsible for the heat in chilli peppers.

Can Raspberry Ketone help me lose weight?

Preliminary studies also suggested that capsaicin prevents weight gain. Scientists ran a test to determine if raspberry ketone does affect weight gain. Only a handful of preliminary studies have been done to look at raspberry ketone as assisting with weight loss. These studies signalled a potential weight loss effect like a 2005 study that showed that a high-fat diet including raspberry ketone prevented weight gain in the liver, and gains of visceral fat ("belly fat") that surrounds organs. So the answer to the question can raspberry ketone help me lose weight is Yes.

Is Raspberry Ketone safe?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration first categorized raspberry ketone's as a "Generally Recognized as Safe" (GRAS) food additive in the 1960s. Raspberry ketone is not well studied at concentrations used in supplements – which can range from 50 to 250 milligram per serving.

What are the side effects of Raspberry?

Raspberry ketone may lower blood sugar levels. Raspberry ketone may also cause changes in body fat and weight, changes in inflammation, heart palpitations and shakiness. Raspberry ketone may also interact with medicines, such as those that regulate heart rate and cholesterol, and hormones. Studies have only really concluded that there is nothing indicating that raspberry ketone's are not safe.
